The 83rd Golden Globe Awards have wrapped at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The punchiest opening marquee of the 2026 awards season saw comedian Nikki Glaser returning to the podium, as film and television’s biggest contenders grappled for the early hardware that often shapes the looming Oscar race.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another emerged as the night’s dominant force in the Musical or Comedy lane, winning Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and delivering Anderson a major double with Best Director and Best Screenplay, a sweep that positioned the film as an early awards-season pace-setter. The movie’s run was reinforced by Teyana Taylor’s win for Best Supporting Actress (Motion Picture), giving the film both top-tier craft recognition and a key acting prize on the night.
In the Drama bracket, Best Motion Picture — Drama went to Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet, anchoring its Globes haul with Jessie Buckley taking Best Actress — Motion Picture (Drama) for her performance, a one-two that made the film the evening’s central dramatic victor.
Meanwhile, Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent secured high-profile wins that cut across categories: Wagner Moura won Best Actor — Motion Picture (Drama), and the film also claimed Best Motion Picture — Non-English Language, giving it both a leading acting prize and the Globes’ key international-film recognition.
The ceremony also spread major trophies across the season’s bigger titles: Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor — Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme; Rose Byrne won Best Actress — Musical or Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You; Stellan Skarsgård won Best Supporting Actor (Motion Picture) for Sentimental Value; Sinners landed the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award and Ludwig Göransson won Best Original Score; and KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
