Why Celebrities Wore ‘ICE Out’ and ‘Be Good’ Pins at the 2026 Golden Globes
At the Golden Globes last night, several celebrities wore black-and-white pins reading “ICE Out” and “Be Good,” drawing attention to recent deaths involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The pins are part of the #BeGood campaign, which honors Renée Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother of three who was fatally shot by an ICE officer earlier this month, and Keith Porter Jr., a 43-year-old father of two who was killed by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles. Advocates have said both deaths highlight a broader pattern of violence connected to ICE operations.
Celebrities wearing the pins included Mark Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes, Natasha Lyonne, Jean Smart, and Ariana Grande. Ruffalo, nominated for Best Male Actor – Television Drama for Task, wore the pin on the red carpet alongside his wife, Sunrise Coigney.
Sykes and Lyonne also had their pins on display on the red carpet:
Inside the venue, Grande was photographed wearing an “ICE Out” pin while posing alongside Lisa:
Smart’s pin was visible as the Hacks star accepted her award for Best Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy. She also snapped a photo with Ruffalo.
The campaign was organized by a group of entertainment industry professionals and supported by organizations including the ACLU, MoveOn, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, Working Families Power, and Maremoto. Per Vogue, a press release explained, “The #BeGood campaign aims to honor Renée Macklin Good and Keith Porter while also reminding us what it means to be good to one another in the face of such horror—to be a good citizen, neighbor, friend, ally and human. Every day, everywhere, regular people are being good.”
According to Nelini Stamp of Working Families Power, the goal is to involve artists in raising awareness. “We need every part of civil society, society to speak up. We need our artists. We need our entertainers. We need the folks who reflect society,” Stamp said, per ABC News.
ABC News also reported that the pins were distributed in the days leading up to the ceremony and given to attendees to wear on the red carpet or during the show. Jess Morales Rocketto, the executive director of Maremoto, noted, “They put it in their purse, and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you wear this?’ It’s so grassroots.” The outlet also confirmed that the organizers plan to continue the campaign throughout awards season.
