Around 10 am, the boy went up the hill after an argument with his parents over his demand for a new mobile phone, the report added. The teenager had threatened repeatedly that he would jump, prompting his parents, villagers and police personnel.

According to details in the report, that hindustantimes.com could not independently verify, the boy had bought an iPhone and had been asking his family for money to pay the EMIs, police said. This led to a heated argument with his father over.
